This month's curated selection of high-end timepieces for enthusiasts features several notable releases. H. Moser & Cie. continues to impress with its creative designs and advanced technology, introducing three new retrograde seconds models. A. Lange & Söhne reintroduces a popular platinum bracelet for its Datograph Perpetual. Biver makes its mark with its first hand-wound three-hand watch. Additionally, Breitling expands its collection with two vintage-inspired timepieces.
H. Moser & Cie. expands its Pioneer, Endeavour, and Streamliner collections with three new retrograde seconds models. Among these, the Streamliner stands out for its aesthetic harmony with the intricate retrograde complication. This feature involves a small hand tracking seconds in an arc, then instantly returning to its starting point after 30 seconds. Encased in a 40mm brushed stainless steel cushion case with an integrated bracelet, the Streamliner Retrograde Seconds boasts a midnight blue fumé enamel dial with applied indices and the brand’s signature modified syringe hands. The lower dial features the retrograde display, reminiscent of automotive speedometers, powered by the HMC 252 caliber. With 120m water resistance, a steel build, automatic winding, and a 72-hour power reserve, the Streamliner functions as a high-end tool watch, despite its premium price of 29,900 CHF.
A. Lange & Söhne's Datograph Perpetual sees the return of its platinum bracelet, a feature long awaited by collectors. This new version, commemorating the model's 20th anniversary, pairs a diamond-studded black dial with a fresh five-link platinum bracelet. The watch is powered by the manually wound Calibre L952.1 movement and is limited to just 50 pieces. Biver introduces its first hand-wound three-hander, the AB, measuring 38mm with a black multi-level onyx dial and gold accents. This entry-level model, though expensive at the cost of a BMW M3, has already sold out. Breitling adds the Navitimer B09 Chronograph 41 to its core collection, a modern take on the 1960s ref. 806 “Twin Jet”-logo chronograph. This 41mm stainless steel watch, manually wound, comes with either a brown leather strap or a steel bracelet. Also available is a hand-wound, non-limited version of the Cosmonaute, a 24-hour dial variant of the Navitimer famously worn by astronaut Scott Carpenter.
These innovations showcase the enduring craftsmanship and visionary design within the luxury watch industry. From intricate mechanical movements to sophisticated aesthetics and historical re-interpretations, these timepieces reflect a commitment to excellence and a passion for horological artistry. Collecting such watches is not merely about ownership but about appreciating the legacy of innovation and precision they represent, adding a profound sense of purpose and enjoyment to one's journey.
